- Chocolate Bayou Community Credit Union – Turns out that the Chocolate Bayou is a small area in southwestern Texas. The area also features such interesting road names as Mustang Chocolate Bayou Road.
- Schlumberger Employee’s Credit Union – This German sounding name is actually a company which specializes in providing oilfield spills. They employ over 83,000 people and consequently employees have created their own credit union.
- Brazosport Teacher’s Credit Union - Similarly to the Chocolate Bayou, Brazosport is a multi-city community in south Texas at the mouth of the Brazo and San Bernard Rivers. It includes a high school and college of the same name.
- Nizari Progressive Credit Union – Nizari is an Arabic word meaning path, while emphasizing social justice, pluralism, and human reason. The credit union was founded by Muslims, who chose this name.
- Bluebonnet Credit Union – This name just does not seem to fit a credit union affiliated with the Gulf Oil Company, but a little research will show that the bluebonnet is the state flower of Texas.
